Insulation cylinders used in transformers include phenolic paper tubes, epoxy glass tubes, glass tubes and cardboard tubes.

 

1. Phenolic paper tube

 

Class E insulation, which is made of a single-sided adhesive tape rolled by a coiler. The winding process is as follows: the adhesive tape is wound onto the die, and the glue on the adhesive tape is fused by heating and pressing, and is initially solidified. After being rolled to the specified thickness, it is baked together with the die to make it completely cured/de-piped, and processed according to the required dimensions of the drawings. In order to prevent moisture, you can dip phenolic resin paint or 1032 paint twice.

2. Epoxy glass cloth tube

It is a B-F class insulation and is used as a casing for the B-F dry-type transformer winding support cylinder or switch.

The epoxy glass cloth cylinder is made of epoxy glass cloth. The process is basically the same as the roll of phenolic paper. The glass cloth used should be an alkali-free glass cloth, that is, the alkali content is less than 0.8%, otherwise it will affect its electrical performance.

3. Glass steel cylinder

The glass steel cylinder is entangled with the shaft core at a certain angle after impregnating the resin with the bundled glass roving. In the winding machine, there is a heating device to achieve initial curing. After reaching the required thickness, it needs spin curing to prevent the loss of glue.

FRP cylinders have grades B, F and H. The temperature resistance level is mainly determined by the temperature resistance level of the resin used.

4. Rolled cardboard tube

Advantages of phenolic paper tube: accurate size, good mechanical strength and not easy to get wet, but in oil immersed transformer, the oil absorption rate is poor, and it is difficult to ensure that there are no residual bubbles inside. The so-called rolled cardboard cylinder is a cardboard cylinder made of multi-layer cardboard.

5. Hard cardboard tube

The hard cardboard is also called a thick cardboard tube. It is mainly used as winding support tube for a large transformer. Its electrical performance and oil absorption rate are much better than the phenolic paper tube. The thickness of the paperboard used is generally 4, 5, 6 mm, usually T4 paperboard. The edge is milled into a slope at the lap joint, and the groove is thermally bonded after deburring.
